As part of the USAID project titled: “Community Oriented Policing (COPA)” implemented by Chifae Association for Training and Development, PVE for Peace organized nine training workshops on “Online Learning and Parental control” for the benefit of more than 130 parents and tutors coming from different marginalized neighborhoods in Tangier, Morocco.
The training aimed at achieving the following objectives:
▪ Facilitating the involvement of families in monitoring the online activities of students.
▪ Facilitating communication between parents and their children’s schools.
▪ Enabling parents and students to use electronic devices privately and safely.
▪ Using e-learning platforms that are recommended by the Ministry of Education.
These different objectives were achieved through three-hours engaging workshops, which adopted an innovative approach that allowed the participants to be fully engaged and receptive throughout the learning process and its various activities. The latter enabled the participants to use basic electronic mobile applications and e-learning platforms to support their children in their e-learning journey. Participants also learned how to monitor the online activities of their children to protect them from the dangers of the internet and cybercrime on social networks.
The workshop stood out for its practical part, as the parents and tutors learned how to download and use relevant educational apps on their phones and how to help their children study using technology. The training also demonstrated to the participants how they can use such apps to monitor their children’s academic progress.
This comprehensive training will be complemented by an audio-visual guide that would support parents from marginalized neighborhoods in guiding and mentoring their children throughout their e-learning experience.
