In an ever-changing world where challenges like violent extremism persist, collaborative efforts aimed at prevention have become essential. As part of its commitment to fostering peace and stability, PVE for Peace has been actively engaged in the “Shabab Moutsamih” program, partnering with the CIDEAL Foundation to develop a series of deliverables that are set to make a tangible difference for the benefit of local CSOs in Morocco.
Empowering Civil Society Professionals in Violence Prevention
Under the umbrella of the “Shabab Moutsamih” program, PVE for Peace undertook a series of initiatives to promote the prevention of violent extremism in Morocco. The collaboration, supported and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), resulted in the creation of four distinct deliverables that collectively aim to equip professionals with the tools and knowledge required to detect and mitigate the risks associated with youth radicalization.
- Practical Guide on PVE for Frontline Professionals: One of the cornerstones of the initiative is a practical guide designed specifically for frontline professionals working with youth in Morocco. This guide serves as a comprehensive resource, offering insights, strategies, and best practices to identify and address the early signs of violent extremism. With a contextualized approach, the guide acknowledges the unique challenges of the local context and provides practical steps to promote community integration and peaceful coexistence.
- Mapping of PVE Stakeholders in the MENA Region: Effective prevention requires the collaboration of various stakeholders. PVE for Peace conducted a mapping of the landscape of PVE stakeholders in the MENA region. This mapping served as a vital tool to facilitate communication, cooperation, and knowledge sharing among diverse organizations working towards adopting a whole of society approach and network to prevent violent extremism in the communities of their areas of intervention.
- Toolkit on PVE for Civil Society Organizations: Civil society organizations play a pivotal role in shaping community narratives and driving positive change. Recognizing this, PVE for Peace and CIDEAL Foundation have developed a comprehensive toolkit tailored to the needs of civil society organizations. This toolkit equips them with practical strategies, resources, and guidelines to engage effectively in PVE efforts, thus amplifying the impact of prevention initiatives across the region.
- Online Comprehensive Training on P/CVE: PVE for Peace facilitated and conducted a comprehensive online training of trainers ( ToT) on preventing violent extremism for the benefit of the partner associations of the “Shabab Moutasamih” Convention. Over three weeks and through an experiential learning methodology, participants engaged in five interactive live sessions, where they learned how to implement P/CVE initiatives, adopt a holistic approach to society’s involvement, and develop strategies to engage youth and community organizations. Through tailored modules drawing from expert resources, participants were equipped with skills to prevent violent extremism and promote a more secure society in their communities of intervention.
