Project Overview
In the Moroccan city of Tétouan, an initiative with far-reaching impact was implemented under the project titled “Promotion of Dialogue and Participation in the Municipality of Tétouan for Access to Decent Employment.” PVE for Peace joined forces with dedicated partners to enhance local services for vulnerable young people. The aim was to establish a solid professional orientation service within the community. This service sought to empower municipal staff with the necessary skills to guide young individuals toward decent employment or independent professional activities.
The project was implemented in collaboration with the association ATIL, the municipality of Tétouan, and the Spanish foundation CODESPA. Financial support was provided by the Barcelona City Council. These combined efforts resulted in a comprehensive training and coaching program designed to address local challenges and create lasting change.
Partners and Donors
The success of the project was largely due to the strong network of partners and donors involved. ATIL, known for its local expertise and commitment to social development, played a critical role in providing insights and support. The municipality of Tétouan contributed essential infrastructure and local knowledge that made the initiative possible. Collaboration with the Spanish foundation CODESPA brought an international perspective that enriched the project design. Financial backing from the Barcelona City Council was instrumental in turning project plans into reality. These partnerships illustrate the strength of collective action in addressing youth unemployment and enhancing community services.
Beneficiaries of the Initiative
The project focused on supporting young individuals who faced challenges in accessing decent employment. Vulnerable youth inTétouan were the primary beneficiaries of the initiative. By offering targeted guidance and orientation services, the project provided these young people with clear pathways toward professional development. Municipal employees, who work directly with the community in local libraries and community centers, were also key beneficiaries. They received training and practical tools that enabled them to assist young job seekers effectively.
Comprehensive Training and Coaching
The core of the initiative was a well-structured training and coaching program. A four-day training session introduced municipal staff to the fundamentals of professional orientation. The training covered essential topics such as resource mapping and the methodologies required to deliver professional guidance. Participants engaged in interactive activities, discussions, and practical exercises. These sessions were designed to build competence in identifying available resources and tailoring orientation strategies to meet the needs of individual job seekers.
Following the training, two days of coaching provided an opportunity to put theory into practice. These sessions took place in local community settings where municipal employees applied their newly acquired skills directly with young individuals. By working in real-life scenarios, the participants were able to fine-tune their approach and receive immediate feedback. The coaching sessions ensured that the orientation methods were effectively integrated into daily practice, thereby strengthening the overall service provided to the community.
Impact and Results
The results of the project have been promising and demonstrate significant progress. Municipal staff showed marked improvements in using resource mapping tools and implementing the professional orientation methodologies effectively. Within weeks of completing the training, several municipal employees successfully guided young individuals in their career choices. Feedback from the participants highlighted the clarity and practicality of the training sessions. They valued the interactive and practical methods employed, which made the learning process accessible and directly applicable to their roles.
Furthermore, the initiative has created a foundation for ongoing professional development. The interactive nature of the training and coaching sessions fostered an environment where municipal employees could continually improve their skills. This enhanced capability is expected to have a lasting positive effect on the community by ensuring that young people receive the guidance they need to enter the workforce with confidence.
Conclusion
The project in Tétouan clearly demonstrates the power of collaboration among local and international partners to address critical social challenges. By combining the expertise of ATIL, the local support of the Tétouan municipality, the international perspective of CODESPA, and the financial commitment of the Barcelona City Council, a robust professional orientation service was established. The success of the training and coaching program not only enhanced the skills of municipal employees but also provided vulnerable young people with the tools necessary for professional success.
PVE for Peace remains committed to initiatives that foster community development and empower youth through practical, targeted interventions. The achievements in Tétouan serve as a model for future projects aimed at creating sustainable and inclusive opportunities for young people in similar contexts.
