In order to promote integrating digital learning as part of extracurricular activities in Moroccan secondary and high schools, PVE for Peace populated an e-learning platform with 15 modules on human rights, civic engagement, and governance and developed the capacities of more than 80 teachers and around 4000 students in northern Morocco to effectively and efficiently employ this platform in promoting civic engagement among students through extracurricular activities. These activities were part of the “Education and Employability” managed by ATIL-CODESPA Consortium and financed by the Millenium Challenge Corporation via Millenium Challenge Account-Morocco.
Enable Teachers and Educators to Use Digital Learning Modules
PVE for Peace conducted six training sessions for the benefit of the members of the Department of School Life at the Regional Academy of Tanger, Tetouan, and El Hoceima, as well as teachers leading school clubs in colleges and high schools across Tétouan, Tanger, Larache, and Chefchaouen. These training sessions had a dual focus: introducing participants to the 15 online training modules on Democracy and Human Rights developed by PVE for Peace, and equipping participants with the skills to effectively utilize these online training modules in their specific contexts.
The sessions also gathered valuable feedback from educators on the pedagogical content of the fifteen modules, which were disseminated via an e-learning platform developed by ATIL-CODEPSA Consortium. The training activities were strategically designed to facilitate easy navigation through the modules, comprehend the pedagogical rationale behind different communication products within each module, and explore efficient utilization of these resources within schools and for the benefit of school club members.
Coaching Teachers Inside Their Schools to Adapt and Employ the e-learning Modules in a Hybrid Setting
PVE for Peace conducted 34 training sessions for teachers leading school clubs in colleges and high schools located in Tétouan, Tanger, Larache, and Chefchaouen. The training aimed to mentor teachers inside their schools and equip them with the skills to effectively use the e-learning platform to promote extracurricular activities, understand PVE for Peace’s pedagogical content, adapt online training modules to their students’ contexts and levels, and facilitate a blend of online and offline training activities. These objectives were transformed into engaging activities that foster collaborative and participatory learning, allowing teachers to lead sessions for students using both online modules and in-class activities. The training sessions, divided into two parts, focused on introducing teachers to the platform, creating customized content, and guiding practical exercises to help teachers conduct future workshops effectively and efficiently.
Extracurricular Activities can be also Digital
The PVE for Peace coaching sessions exemplify a holistic approach to nurturing both educators and students in the realm of extracurricular activities and online learning. By fostering collaborative learning environments, enhancing digital literacy, and bolstering facilitation skills, these sessions have not only imparted e-learning competencies but also catalyzed personal growth and confidence. PVE for Peace’s commitment to this transformative endeavor sets the stage for a brighter, more engaged future for both teachers and students across the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region.
